In keeping with Weill Cornell’s long tradition in global health, we are pleased to announce the third year of our Global Health Curriculum (first piloted in the 2009-2010 academic year). This comprehensive elective program provides opportunities for students to contextualize and expand upon their global health experiences in order to better serve the communities with which they work, both as medical students and practicing physicians. Incoming WCMC students, pre-register for the Curriculum here. Enrollment in the Curriculum indicates a student’s commitment to complete all of the requirements as defined below. The Curriculum requirements: • Three courses - Introduction to Global Health: A Case-Based Approach (Fall, Year 1) - Foundations in Global Service (Spring, Year 1) - Global Health: Clinical Skills for Resource-poor Environments (Spring, Year 4) • One Global Health Preceptorship with underserved or immigrant populations in New York City • Two Applied Experiences (of which at least one must be a Field Experience) • Monthly Global Health Grand Rounds lectures (50% attendance required in Year 1) Students may participate in any of the individual components without being enrolled in the Curriculum. However, only students fulfilling all of the requirements will be distinguished as having completed the Weill Cornell Global Health Curriculum. In addition, those enrolled in the Curriculum will receive priority in scheduling, should space be limited. |
